Chhath Puja is a traditional, four-day religious festival celebrated in many parts of India, but it has a special meaning to the people of Bihar. Held annually and usually in late October or early November, Chhath Puja is dedicated to the worship of the sun god, and families take time off to pray and perform rituals centered around themes of blessings and thankfulness. As part of tradition, devotees gather by the riverbank to chant mantras and offer their prayers at sunrise and sunset. The event also includes delicious feasts, colorful decorations such as rangoli patterns on floors, music and folk dancing; providing an atmosphere full of joyous celebrations. Every year Bihar's Chhath Puja is celebrated with much enthusiasm, reflecting Bihar's ancient culture while bringing together families as they honor one of Hindu faith's most important festivals.
