The Red Fort Complex was constructed as the palace fort of Shahjahanabad, the fifth Mughal Emperor of India, Shah Jahan's new capital. Because of the red sandstone fabric of its rampart walls, this palace fortification is known as the Red Fort. In 1648, the fort was completed, complete with halls, palaces, pavilions, and tranquil gardens.
