This Donkey Sanctuary in Leh, Ladakh, India is home to more than 400 donkeys. The sanctuary is run entirely by locals and relies on donations to survive. The donkeys at the sanctuary are mostly used to transport people and goods and are well cared for. But, unfortunately, sometimes the donkeys get ill or have an injury. Sometimes their owners can't afford the price of veterinary care, and so the donkeys are abandoned. The sanctuary takes in abandoned donkeys, and treats and rehabilitates any injured donkeys. The donkeys are fed goat's milk and given veterinary care.
