Surrounded by snow-clad mountains, and with turquoise blue lakes and herds of yaks roaming the grasslands, the Namgyal Tsemo Gompa is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Ladakh. While the Namgyal Tsemo Gompa has been in almost constant use since 1430, the massive golden mask in the monastery's main chapel is a recent addition.
