Shanti Stupa was built in 2005 by Buddhist monks as a gesture of peace between Hindu and Buddhist communities inhabiting Ladakh. A huge golden stupa is the focal point of the Shanti Stupa, rising 150 feet from its base and spanning an expansive lawn. Around the stupa, visitors can see a maze of prayer halls, meditation halls, and rooms stacked with statues of the Buddha.
