Tso Kar Lake, adjacent to the Leh-Manali Highway, offers fantastic vistas, lovely options for photography, and a great area to simply sit and enjoy the scenery. It is surrounded by towering mountains, which are home to the elusive snow leopard, and is located at a height of 15,280 feet. It is also known as 'White Lake' because of the white salt deposits in the water that line its coast. Many bird watchers flock to Tso Kar to observe the diverse flora and fauna, especially during the time of year when birds are migrating. Bar-Headed Geese, Brahmin Ducks, and Great Crested Grebe are some of the frequent bird species found here.
