Omkareshwar, the sacred island, is shaped like Om, Hinduism's holiest symbol. It is surrounded by high hills between which the Narmada River forms a tranquil lagoon. This town is a well-known pilgrimage site that contains one of Shiva's 12 revered Jyotirlinga shrines.
