Simlipal National Park is a nature-lovers paradise situated in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. It is a part of the Similipal Biosphere Reserve and spreads across an area of 845.7 square kilometers. This park, established in 1979, has served as a protected habitat for many endangered species, including the Bengal Tiger, Indian Elephant, and Gaur. Tourists can explore its sprawling hills with dense green forests bordered by ravines and waterfalls which make it home to more than 1000 species of fauna and 2000 species of flora — mainly sal trees — making it one of the wonders of India’s wildlife tourism sector. Visitors on an outing here can marvel at the soothing views of rivers like Budhabalanga and Khairi Jharna flowing through this national park or enjoy several activities such as elephant rides or jungle safaris to watch the colorful birds that inhabit this park. Simlipal is truly a remarkable sanctuary whose beauty must be experienced personally!
