Faridkot, once the capital of a princely state in Punjab under British rule, was named after the Sufi Saint Baba Sheik Fariduddin Ganjshakar. The most notable structures in Faridkot are the Clock Tower, the District Courts, Darbar Ganj, and the Stadium. The city also has a former ruler's palace and a fort.
