The Golden Temple, often referred to as Sri Harmandir Sahib, is a Sikh house of worship and temple complex situated in the city of Amritsar in the Indian state of Punjab. It is the fifth holiest shrine in Sikhism after Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, Sri Patna Sahib in Patna, Sri Damdama Sahib in Patna, and Sri Anandpur Sahib in Anandpur. Sikhs regard it as the most sacred of the five Takhts, or seats of temporal power, of the Sikh religion.
