The Hawa Mahal, which literally means Palace of the Winds, is a five-story red-sandstone and marble building in Jaipur. It was constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the 7th ruler of Jaipur, out of local pink sandstone. The five gabled roofs and facades of the building are adorned with intricate latticework, fine stone, and stucco carvings. The Hawa Mahal is a popular tourist destination and a must-see for anyone visiting Jaipur.
