Known for its architecture, Jaisalmer attracts lots of tourist each year. Its yellow sandstone houses make the city look like a sandcastle, while the interior courtyards and corridors of the medieval havelis are decorated with intricate latticework. The city's other major sight is the Jaisalmer Fort, a hilltop fortress and ancient palace with delicately decorated archways and fine Rajput paintings.
