The National Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Uttar Pradesh, is a remarkable site featuring breathtaking scenery and an enormous array of plant and animal life. Home to the majestic Gharial crocodile and the Gangetic dolphin, this sanctuary has been protecting endangered species since 1978. In addition, it's one of the few places where people may still see critically endangered species such as the red-crowned roof turtle or Jungle cat. Visitors can also witness over 320 species of resident and migratory birds including dwindling wintering populations of migratory birds from central Asia. Other wonders of this unique sanctuary are its large diversity of snakes, turtles, lizards, amphibians, and fish as well as its peaceful riverside atmosphere. A visit to National Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary is one that will be remembered for a lifetime!
