Vashishta Gufa, a cave on the Ganges river with a Shivalingam at its end, is believed to be Rishikesh's most ancient and sacred cave. Sage Vashistha and his wife spent a great deal of time meditating in this cave. Sage Vashista was one of the great seven sages and the human son of Lord Brahma, according to Hindu mythology. It is a wonderfully tranquil place where people come to relax, reflect on their life, and speak with the divine within.
