Yamunotri is one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage sites and is sacred to Hindus. Thousands of devotees visit this mountain town each year to visit the Yamunotri Temple, which is located at its centre. The town is surrounded on all sides by high peaks and is situated at a height of 3295 meters. According to Hindu mythology, devotees who make the pilgrimage to this holy town with utmost devotion and purity are freed from the cycle of life and death.
